Pulse resistors

Charging and discharging a capacitor due to a charging resistor with short charging times corresponds to a pulse load.

The heat generated cannot be dissipated to the surroundings during the pulse period. The conductive polymer paste of the thick-film resistor must be capable of completely absorbing the energy.

The pulse resistance must be limited to a duty cycle of < 2%. The dimensions of the resistor are determined by the pulse load.

The engineers from the Würth Elektronik FLATcomp Team would be pleased to calculate the dimensions required for your specific customized application.

Here we require some data, which you are requested to enter in this form and to send back to us with a click.

RL       load resistance
C         capacitor
Gnd.   ground (electrical ground lead)
W        width of the resistor
L         electrical effective length of the resistor

Power absorbed by the pulse resistor
Temperature in the conductive polymer film while capacitor is discharging
